Let's say you go to a bakery to buy cookies for an event, but the shop has a twist: they also do murder for hire. When the bakers aren't kneading dough, they're wielding garrotes in dark alleys. You are fully aware of the contract killings, but when confronted by colleagues about supporting Murder Bakers, you respond that you never partake in the unsavory offerings; you only buy cookies, so it's fine.
