Can someone recommend a good instance that has defederated from .ml I’m tired of supporting instances that support that trash. Are there any suggestions or even a good up-to-date list available?

  • Not on Lemmy really, maybe on piefed. That said it may be easiest to pick an instance and just block it from your client.

    I'm real happy over here.

Based on @zedstrian@sopuli.xyz’s post, it looks like the only large instance that defederates lemmy.ml is infosec.pub . I have no specific knowledge of that instance though.

Just add it to your block list. No need to change instances.

ml is the dev instance. you’re supporting it by using lemmy. so really you should look for software that doesn’t federate with any lemmy instances.

Oh sheesh stop acting like a baby. If you don’t want to read something then don’t read it. Re infosec.pub: I just logged in and checked, and I can see .ml communities from here.

Lemmy.cafe is defederated with .ml, Hexbear, and Lemmygrad.

As an mbin fan, I've been liking fedia.io.

I think beehaw recently defederated from ml, and I like it here a lot :)

I mean are you paying money for them, when you say supported? Or you just registered here.

Here’s a diagram https://piefed.social/c/fediverse@lemmy.world/p/2258999/maybe-a-better-threadiverse-major-defederations-graph here’s another https://piefed.social/c/bestoflemmy@lemmy.world/p/2260084/threadiverse-major-defederations-graph Since those diagrams were made, beehaw.org defederated from lemmy.ml. But they also have lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works defederated so it’s… not a popular choice. PieFed has the concept of silencing another instance. A silenced instance is not defederated from but their posts do not show in the Popular or All feeds and their communities are not shown during onboarding. Their communities can still be found in the communities list (if you unblock the instance first) and joined in the normal way. Once joined, posts in there show up in the Subscribed feed of the joiner as usual. Since I added silencing functionality I feel like there’s almost no need for (more) defederation. I can offer protection to newbies who don’t yet know which places to avoid and they can explore the dark corners when they’re ready. It’s a low-drama way to put a bit of distance between groups that rub each other the wrong way.

AFAIK, beehaw.org has recently defederated from the 3rd big tankie instance, which is why I’m here.

Sadly my instance blocks them, would love to see their Linux memes.
