@whvholst@eupolicy.social @bert_hubert@eupolicy.social Slavery abused people, asbestos is only dangerous in a fiber form yet it was outlawed in all forms many of which were useful without being dangerous, AI is NOT sentient, it is a complex pattern matching machine, that is all, that said it can find patterns in things we can not and it can do so faster than we can so is useful for things from drug discovery via protein folding predictions, rapid control of magnetic field in tokamak reactors, getting a drunk home safely, running robotics to provide the manufacturing capacity the lack of youth in todays society isn't, etc.
