I tried writing a script in python again for the first time in like 3+ years and instantly fell into dictionary hell. I think I may just be bad at dynamic type systems tbh because this always happens (the script just reads data out from some ill-formed XML game/mod files (they have multiple root elements) and writes it as csv that I can use as a spreadsheet, so I had to find a lenient enough parser that it wouldn't care about that, and python seemed better than shell or finding/writing something in C++ for it)
