World Order Lighter than Hegemony and with much more freedom of choice. To be fair to Hegemony, it is a one-of-a-kind game, but this is much more manageable. A game like this needs several plays but I liked my first impression. It might have helped that I was playing the EU who benefit less from direct confrontation. #boardgames

  • @iain@ohai.social The EU generally benefits from less direct conflict. But can and will answer the call. As my last game taught me. I’m considering the expansion that adds bots. Although to be fair the two player game is fine as is. It’s not as long as a full four player game. The games main flaw. I’ve not played Hegemony (it’s two player experience makes it not worth the investment) but if I ever see it at a games night or Con I’d give it a try.

I'm not sure I would think of Hegemony as a one of a kind game. I found it quite derivative and in its own straight jacket with the "asynchronous powers drive only one strategy per faction" way. that works when you have oodles of factions (eg Terra Mystica) but less so when there are only four.
