Home Assistant automation modes: why the default isn’t your friend.
The default mode is “single”. It is safe, conservative, and backwards-compatible.
It also drops new triggers while the automation is still running.
So if you never picked a mode, you may have been relying on the wrong behavior all along.
Learn how to pick the mode you actually need: Single, restart, queued, or parallel. 🙂

@frenck@fosstodon.org Yep. I have been bitten by this before: an automation that would not work properly until set to "parallel".

@frenck@fosstodon.org I’ve learned about it a bit late too. Is there any place in UI (not yaml) that shows the mode? If not, there should be.

@frenck@fosstodon.org Great! I've selected 110 automations to switch from single to restart. How do I do that in the GUI?
