I did have to buy a new battery for my thinkpad, the original one was pretty depleted
thankfully there are zillions of replacement batteries for old thinkpads on the market, very cheap, and back then the batteries still just ... snapped easily out the back, with a quick-release switch, so incredibly easy to pop in a new one 😂

@clive@saturation.social I found I could buy a battery for the Toughbook, and it wouldn't be an issue to replace, but the options I found were going to be in the $100+ range (or maybe £100+) and it just didn't feel worth it. It might be an option now.
