This takeaway tub represents the entire harvest from my first potato planter. I had to harvest them on Friday because giant snails ate all the leaves, so there’d be no more spud growth.
We had them with Sunday dinner and they were freaking delicious. A little bit floury, so possibly the Maris Pipers. Next year I’ll label them properly.
And now it looks like, in spite of the slug pellets and ground up eggshells, the second planter is also leafless. I’ll have to sort that tomorrow.

I dug up the second tub of spuds today, and look! Actual potato-sized potatoes! This lot only had four more days in the ground than the first lot, and both lots were planted at the same time. So I think this might show that the potato bag did a better job of growing than the giant plant pot did.
