  This isn’t likely to change anything in the market. Auto manufacturers have invested shitloads into meeting those standards and they’re not going to retroactively change their already-designed powerplants over rules that will probably change again in 6 months. Also it won’t matter anyway since automakers realized they can just upsell everyone into “luxury” light trucks in the US and fuel economy standards don’t matter to those anyway.

  If the US ever regains its sanity there will literally need to be an entirely new government Office of Detrumpification, fully staffed with expert teams tasked to review and reverse all the wrong he’s done, and that’s only to struggle back to the status quo. We need new Nuremberg trials so desperately
