One of the many advantages of having a social media account in some random mastodon instance ran by a hamster-powered toaster, is that your time and attention has zero chance of contributing to the wealth of an elite psychopath. Also, the toaster is sun-powered now and the hamster is enjoying a parental leave. Point being, social media doesn't have to feel like a bad deal with the devil.
