Help, please. 🙏 One of the world’s largest AI data centres is being planned next to the quiet village of Auchtertool in Fife, Scotland. It is estimated that this monstrosity will consume 20% of Scotland's total energy output. I've put together a few screenshots to show you how it'll impact the area. If you haven't done so already, please sign this petition. Add your voice to those who want to stop this unwanted obscenity from being built. Thank you. https://c.org/X4nGjKFSvQ

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk Do you welcome signatories from abroad, or are you looking only for signatures from Scotland?

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk We, the Scottish people, need to organise and protest the development of all of the 16 proposed AI data centres. They consume energy and water for very little return with respect to jobs but produce vast quantities of pollution in the way of noise, infrasound, heat and toxic water waste.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk A good read is Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. It’s a cautionary tale of power, Greed and lost idealism as stated on the cover. It’s a must read for those needing a bit of inside historical context to the AI quandary. But, data center construction, top down decisions, war deployment all can be done by AI with no human input. Wrong target? Children killed? All wrapped up with “ sorry old data”. We must act now or our future is death by AI.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk It's not just the USA? What monstrous billionaire sewer corporation is building this one? STOP IT! Unless you want total surveillance. That is what these are ultimately for.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk i honor your initiative, because or even though I expect the visualization of the plant to be wrong. Current data centers are a pure fossil technology, your pictures don’t show the hundreds of Gas turbines typically employed. I expect such plans to become public sooner or later. I wish you all success.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk @onepict@chaos.social Signed. I hope this helpful- these are going to be nothing but white elephants; either the AI bubble will burst (hopefully without taking my pension fund with it), or it’ll become efficient enough not to need these monstrosities.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk a kickstarter to collect money to buy up the land around the datacentre and decline any access to their property.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk Signed from Australia. These data centres are going to affect us all in negative ways wherever they are built.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk They should use all that space for something useful, such as a whisky warehouse.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk I like the way they included a couple of ponds to distract from what will surely be a monstrous amount of water required to cool it.
