Typo. This is Mexico before US got the land. And it was before 1848.

@ichbindabomb@nerdculture.de I think that maps (especially those for consumption in the USA) should make a point of using Mexico’s full name. I like pointing out to people that ‘The United States of America’ is actually only one of multiple United States in America.

@ichbindabomb@nerdculture.de Owing to its various wars with Mexico, the US could have acquired all of Mexico's territory, instead of just the northern 2/3 of it. Congress said no, because Mexico was home to too many Catholics and too many people of color.
