@silverpill@mitra.social @phnt@fluffytail.org the reason I'm asking is I'm trying to decide which platform software to use on my single-user news & politics instance which currently runs Akkoma. I can live with not-great search on my other alts, but for that one I want good search because frequently I'll see a news story I want to boost or discuss, but I search for stories from other outlets which are better written or the posts better formatted. being limited to 20 results with no ability to order makes this difficult.

@deutrino@mstdn.io @phnt@fluffytail.org Hmm, I just logged into a Mastodon instance and I don't see this: it returns a maximum of 20 semi-random recentish posts which can't be sorted Instead, text search results are strictly chronologically ordered and pagination also works as one would expect.

@deutrino@mstdn.io @phnt@fluffytail.org I search for stories from other outlets which are better written or the posts better formatted. I think for this use case MItra's current implementation will not work well, because it looks through your own posts and posts you have interacted with. It's not a global search. I plan to introduce more search options, but this is not a high priority task.
