Saw the crows were around, so I stepped outside in my "problematic" hat (the one I saved the garter snake wearing), and set some peanuts out while doing the low click I've been establishing as a cue. Walked away. Took a few seconds, but one of the crows popped up to the top of the nesting tree and looked at me. I had to walk back to the peanuts, raise one to show it, then set it down and walk away again while clicking. It immediately flew down and accepted its offering. Progress.
