It always baffles me when someone posts their tasteless home screen on the internet and they have the audacity to be offended when I point it out. 😔
I'm an Android user, and I still remember why any phone with it had a bad reputation for a very long time. Customisation is always bad when someone doesn't know when to stop.
Knowing what colours, fonts and widgets are fine to pair together is an art form of its own. It's as delicate as cooking, because to a certain degree, you also have to treat the different elements like ingredients in a meal.
We could also use fashion as an example. You don't have to look fancy, just be presentable in public. A bad home screen is the equivalent of Americans going to Walmart in their pajamas. Sure it's functional, but society will definitely judge you for it.
How can we fix this? Art and aesthetics should be elementary part of education with strict grading. You don't need to create masterpieces, but at least try.
