When I was in elementary school in Livonia Michigan 1967-1969 my best friend and I made a Star Trek Club-we were the only members lol but I was President, she was vice-President and we watched every episode together (and the reruns), we sent away to Hollywood for fan materials (photos of Kirk/Spock/McCoy, little Star Fleet insignia stickers etc) and we saved our allowances and bought the epic Nimoy album "Mr. Spock's Music from Outer Space". Even at the time...1/2

@georgetakei@universeodon.com ... and at a young age I thought Shatner was ridiculous and I would imitate his hilarious overacting to my best friend's amusement. But I had a huge crush on Spock/Nimoy and loved the, as you put it," logic, science and compassion". I wanted to marry him someday! lol. As an adult, I worked as a scientist. Though I am long retired, I approach the world as a scientist, hopefully also with compassion and logic, and always will. Thanks for this post George. 2/2
