@spaf@mstdn.social yes!!!
Many years ago, @deviantollam@defcon.social and the TOOOL crew ran a lockpicking challenge at Shmoocon - Gringo Warrior. The premise was that you had gone to Tijuana with Dan Kaminsky, shenanigans ensued, and you were locked in a Mexican police station, in handcuffs, with your passport in a locked file drawer. So the challenge was - how fast could you remove your handcuffs, extract your passport, and get yourself out of the police station?
I had *just* learned lockpicking and was objectively terrible at it. But I entered anyway, and decided my only goal was not to come in dead last. With a combination of luck and a little social engineering, I "won" - came in third from the bottom! ๐
To this day we still say "Gringo Warrior!" as shorthand for "I know I'm gonna suck at this, but I'm gonna have a blast trying it!" ๐
