The appimages not integrating into menu was one quirk. The helper programs like appimage launcher only work with systemd. They create menu icons and auto update them. So it was more about that not being an option. I don't hate flatpaks, it's easier to use actually.

@dj@parcero.casa Ah, I understand. As for me, AppImages and flatpak is both fine as I mostly use xterm to start any programs, including games. This way I have a console open in the background in case the game/program is "locking" or "freezing" which means not responding to regularly closing it. Otherwise there might be some threads left which occupy RAM and need to be killed.
