@Procrvstinvtion@infosec.exchange I have had mixed luck with usb adapters as the years go on. Some of my OLD disks like to not show up until i connect them to an actual sata controller. I suspect there is a backwards compatibility issue between the disk being a 1.5Gb sata versus the adapter being a 3Gb+ chipset?
never really dug in to it that much.

@kajer@infosec.exchange the bridge controller died! Idk how yet, definitely something I’ll be looking into just for learning experience but yeah, was definitely pleasantly surprised just plugging it in directly worked like a charm. I also know very little about this but am fascinated, think I’ll be using this a driving force to learn more for sure
