@chosunone this is such a good take. I always thought Duolingo was worse than useless honestly, but still think SRS has some value generally. I don’t use it for very many things though.
Amusingly, the author’s approach to language pretty much mirrors my own.

@chosunone@pleroma.chosunone.io I also strongly disagree with his opinion of graded readers btw. I found Brian Smith’s German series to be extremely good. Because it’s not just lazy and overly pedantic. It’s actually like a full length set of books written in a normal style. The “grading” is only of the vocabulary and (to some extent) grammatical complexity. It also comes with audio so it’s easy to consume multiple ways.
