@stevenaleach Doom emacs is by default an "evil mode" configuration - everything vim works more or less perfectly out of the box. Might be worth a look while you're experimenting with vim-like editors. I don't a lot of remote editing myself but people with SSH-heavy workflows swear by the emacs package "tramp". https://github.com/emacs-evil/evil
