How do people keep track of the papers they have read? Tags in zotero? (And if so what do those look like for you?) A separate spreadsheet? Other? My problem is that while reading a paper I often know I am going to want to cite it for a specific point but when it comes time to write I don't remember which paper I was going to use for that point.

@redjives@todon.eu I use read/unread/skimmed/reference in Zotero, though this is not for academia purposes. (The idea of "reference" is "I am not even *planning* on reading this".)

@redjives@todon.eu I don't keep track of which ones I've read, but if I think I'll want to refer back to a paper I put it in a topic-specific folder in Zotero. I also have folders for papers that I downloaded for specific projects. I usually have few enough papers on a given topic that it doesn't take too long to look through them in the folder to figure out which ones I've read. I sometimes have sub-folders for papers that I *know* I'll want to come back to for specific purposes.
