@FizzyDaisies@mas.to @juliette@mastodon.green "People might not say yes so I'm not going to ask for permission" is decidedly antisocial. Enough so that in many contexts it's criminal. I'd also note that this Evan character showed up in my replies justifying the service's behaviour *without* indicating he had any connection to it. "This is good for you and you shouldn't object but I don't want to reveal that I'm the guy behind it" is more rape-y than fediverse-y, IMHO. Unacceptable.

@cazabon@mindly.social @juliette@mastodon.green I agree with you. His concealment of his connection certainly appears deceitful. I can only imagine the inflated sense of self-importance necessary to impose spammy bots on users without permission, and then frame them as something beneficial. Hashtag bots diminish the authenticity of the Fediverse. People on small servers or non-Mastodon platforms chose to be where they are. We should not need to alter our accounts to protect ourselves from the crap he decided to impose on us. I had to unmute him to find out how to block his bots. I care about this importance for him as much as he cares about consent. Frankly, he can F off as far as I’m concerned.
