@wingedhussar @JulioReich @freddie_the_fed right now, ionna, in my area, is around 39 cents per kwh. my car averages 3 miles per kwh in nice weather at highway speeds, so $3.90 per gallon, effectively. i had a WRX, which right now, I would be paying $4.79/gallon to drive 25 miles.
if you start your trip with a full charge from home, that's effectively paying $1.30/gallon for the first 180-200 miles. and don't forget, if you're finishing your trip somewhere with free charging, like some hotels have, that's a second free charge.
so, depending on the situation, it is much cheaper. right now, i have free charging for two years through electrify america, so my trip to missouri from ohio was free
but i 100% agree, if we only talk about on the road, ev charging is just as pricey as an ice car, in a lot of cases, worse

@amperage1963 @JulioReich @freddie_the_fed Charging a full EV at home without a high current charging setup is basically a non starter, and that costs a fortune to get installed assuming you have panel capacity to spare.
