the byrds were one of the icons of folk rock. definitely worth checking them out, as well as tracking the various artists and where they went after.
cass was one of the mamas and papas.
there's a tv special about laurel canyon and all the musicians there that is pretty well done.

Turn! Turn!” They showed up in a lyric from “American Pie”, “the birds flew off with the fallout shelter / eight miles high and falling fast” That song could be a semester of “History of Rock 201: 1955 - 1971”
