Why do distillers add flavours to gin? I like London gin - cheaper and tastes of juniper berries. Kind people have given us three different versions of gin recently and they all taste like cheap sweets 😑

@JeniParsons@mstdn.social and on a related subject, most tonic water seems to have become lemonade (or what supermarkets call lemonade).

@JeniParsons@mstdn.social I tend to agree with you, but some are good. Monkey 47 is one of the best gins, which has overtones of cranberry. But the salty or spiced gins are not good. I'm just sipping on some Hendricks, flavoured with a bit of cucumber.

@JeniParsons@mstdn.social You've got the answer there pretty much - they can charge more for a bit of tangerine or strawberry flavour or whatever. When I drank, my two favourite gins were Gordon's and Bombay Sapphire because they tasted like gin.
