@ZenHeathen@beige.party @wordstitcher@thecanadian.social @AnnieBuddy@thecanadian.social I like your idea except I would prefer it if we didn't tell First Nations how to manage the lands and wildlife they own and need to survive. Maybe it would be fairer if we took a step back and at the same time offered assistance to support decisions they make, through providing officers to enforce whatever laws they put into place?

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world @wordstitcher@thecanadian.social @AnnieBuddy@thecanadian.social No, I mean just overall. Like, if the hunting doesn't even happen on "First Nations land" (joke that *that* is!), but increased fees on Americans just get distributed to First Nations, for them to use as they please.

  • @TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world @ZenHeathen@beige.party @AnnieBuddy@thecanadian.social Agreed, First Nations should be able to control what happens on their territory. However we have no idea how many of any species still exist, yet we allow virtually unregulated hunting by foreigners - some of whom don't even obey existing laws. Let First Nations hunt as they need to - but trophy hunting should be banned. At the least, let's ban dead animals or parts from crossing the border. Hit the rich assholes.
