Brave just dropped Brave Origin: a paid, debloated version of their browser. No AI, no crypto, no rewards, no telemetry. $60 one-time (free on Linux!) We've been manually stripping this stuff out for years and so I have some thoughts... @techlore I completely share your view. It's a fair deal. And the Linux perk is very sweet indeed. I'm enthused about Orion browser, which makes the same treat exactly, although it's still in development.

@techlore Good to watch – even for those not interested in the paid Brave. And relatively short but not short on information.

Interesting. Not sure about it, as I WANT browsers to support crypto. Hear me out, and read up on something relevant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS-based_Authentication_of_Named_Entities There is RESISTANCE to DANE, as it has the potential to put the SSL Cert industry out of business. I worry about the same happening to DeFi and crypto in general, especially from browsers supporting new and upcoming crypto technologies. People afraid of what they do not understand, and crypto is that something. Insisting on stripping crypto support from browsers it what killed DANE. Wikipedia is evil and still talks about DANE as something still alive and breathing, but its already a zombie. Think this over.

@techlore I would maybe pay if it's Foss and major development would go into Linux. For #Mozilla I can only say this to an extend.
