Someone I know got a job as a dedicated AI person at a company to help them transition to using it more... All things aside, it's so strange to me than the average IT person does not figure it can't last much longer? That the AI companies will eventually be expected to put out more than 1% profitability? And I really doubt that when whatever companies support Claude go under they'll just release their models for people to self-host so companies can continue vibe coding. Getting such job is really like a time bomb when the bubble will burst within a couple years (I have my fingers crossed for 2026, I can't see it live past '27...) and then hoping the company will transition you to a normal position. Assuming the company doesn't fall apart when their employees who stopped writing code themselves can't transition back to it.

@catenby@tech.lgbt I mean honestly, if I had no morals getting such a job, pulling ideas out of my ass for an (usually very) high salary, only for the company to collapse after a year and me to collect my severance and move on to another thing... Like if I had a bit more financial stability and again, absolutely no spine, that would be a pretty sweet deal, actually
