Update: it works again. Plus I've had ice cream. Here's the deal, I have a like thousand dollar scanner or something for the 12 times a year I need to scan documents. The problem is trying to deal with crappy scanners and delivering documents to people (WonderProxy was three companies in a trench coat for years) turned into a serious drain on my life force. So I bought a scanner "that just works!" Then it didn't.
