@libreoffice@fosstodon.org good news. But could you get rid of the animated image in the right side of web page? It is very distracting and looks like an ad. Browsers unfortunately autoplay animations without consent which is annoying.

@libreoffice@fosstodon.org Windows was never terribly secure but 11 is just a liability. Modern Linux is pretty overblown and awful, but at least all its bollox can be reliabily deactivated.

@mellifluousbox@mastodon.social @libreoffice@fosstodon.org I wouldn't bet on this staying that way. Good decisions made by politicians have been reversed often enough. https://mastodon.social/@CollaboraOffice/117048273254284954

@mellifluousbox@mastodon.social @danie1@mastodon.nl @libreoffice@fosstodon.org In short: LibreOffice is the desktop version for local work, while Collabora Online is built on the LibreOffice codebase but runs as a server, letting multiple users edit the same document simultaneously in a browser. They're independent programs though. Your local LibreOffice doesn't talk directly to a Collabora server, Collabora just uses the same rendering engine internally. Collabora always needs a hosting platform like Nextcloud, OpenCloud, ownCloud or similar behind it to actually manage the files. And yes, OnlyOffice does the same collaboration trick, just with its own separate engine instead of LibreOffice's code.
