@notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social I'd use OV fiets if it was feasible, but as you say, having no kids seat (not to mention, single gear, no electric assist is going to be a bit of a challenge int he Limburg hills) makes it pretty much not an option for many like myself. But I'm not sure OV-fiets would actually improve things. I mean, they'd be more convenient for me, and probably lots of other people, but I don't think it would reduce the number of bikes on the train, since most were clearly touring or racing bikes with people who wouldn't want a shared bike. I think the problems I encountered are already a strong enough deterrence to anyone who very dedicated to have their own personal bike with them. The scalability can be improved with dedicated bicycle train cars. But maybe latent demand would still end up swamping this. The elevators were also a bit of a challenge, we also missed one train because transferring platforms took too long. But overall, that was much less of a problem than the trains.

I love the electric ov-fiets in Maastricht but really find the lack of a back luggage rack annoying as heck.. next time I'll bring my gazelle on the train. @danbrotherston@types.pl @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social
