Watching ministers talk about NHS data strategy is like watching someone confidently rewire a house with no understanding of electricity. The language sounds polished, the reassurances are endless, but the substance just isn’t there. Choosing a company like Palantir isn’t a neutral technical decision. It’s a long-term structural commitment with real implications for control, access, and public trust. Yet it’s presented as a simple procurement exercise. And when political careers move on, as they always do, there’s rarely any reckoning for decisions that reshape public infrastructure for decades. That asymmetry should concern everyone. #technology #surveillance #nhs #politics #ice #ethics #society #data Palantir: NHS pilot’s “success” is questioned as second figure at major trust is linked to the tech giant | The BMJ https://www.bmj.com/content/393/bmj.s680

@TheKeystoneCollective Palantir is the IBM/Hollerith of nazi Germany. Even more especially with the possibility of a Reform govt Palantir should be nowhere near UK citizens' data.

@TheKeystoneCollective interesting argument here. There might be long term implications when public infrastructure is reconfigured (with private sector involvement)? 🤔 Thames Water? (+ water privatisation + Thatcherism + PFI + ...) Those (in #UKLabour who do not learn from history, are condemned to repeat it).

@TheKeystoneCollective maybe ask Switzerland or Scotland why they didn’t allow Palantir into their government or health service

@TheKeystoneCollective The NHS, the police and the MoD are being scammed by an outfit that is all hype regarding what it can deliver. This is a surveillance company - its job is surveillance. The rest is flim-flam.

@TheKeystoneCollective totally agree. It's an absolute joke that palantir got the contract in the first place, but it's even crazier now with what has come to light recently and they still won't cancel the contract. I feel we should take a leaf out of the EU's book and really start distancing ourselves from big tech / us tech. I don't think we need to completely remove it, but having a mix of suitable options available and in use is a sensible approach.
