Static websites are the future. Not every site needs to be dynamically generated. Having a #blog served by a complex CMS like WordPress feels unnecessary after using #11ty . Compute is growing in cost and becoming scarce. Why waste it on sites suited for static generation? Plus, who wants to host a server with a database, a CMS, a bunch of plugins and all the security headaches that comes with it? #SSG #IndieWeb #Blogging

@JessieHealdUK@defcon.social This is the way. For some slightly added complexity, I use CD to deploy my static site. So I can write my thoughts on my phone, or computer. Push them to my repository and my site is updated about 3min later.

  • @JessieHealdUK@defcon.social I started with WordPress for a year and a bit and I hated it. Jumped ship to Hugo SSG and it has been such a joy creating using Hugo. I'm a huge fan of static sites. And hello, fellow Indiewebber! ๐Ÿ‘‹

  • @JessieHealdUK@defcon.social @mapache@hachyderm.io I fear the opposite. Precisely because compute costs and the AI must be utilized, websites will be halucinated on the fly for every visitor.
