@denisbloodnok@mendeddrum.org Goodness yes. I don't begrudge Peters the success of Cadfael, but I do like her earlier contemporary mysteries much better. (And I feel that the universal monastic practice of communal naked bathing would have made some of those girls disguised as novices rather easier to spot.) I agree it's not foolproof, but I think it was more plausible then than now when the reader is not used to ignoring servants going about their work.
