Momentarily putting environmental effects aside--as I believe these businesses tend to do as long as they can--what re the business and fiscal implications of a sketchy business model? One possibility I envision is "Too big to fail" hits on the public coffer. A complement, or an alterrnative, is winnowing. Remember all those hopeful nuclear startups that stalled and often shuttered halfway (before we went all antiregulatory)?
At this point, AI plants are a big growth sector, both for the money men and for large construction firms. If they falter, we could see wide economic ramifications.
I can't see AI going away. However, I don't trust the up-up-up.
