Sorry for the complaint post but I probably should let other people know. I just realized that the prices advertised on greengeeks.ca are in USD. That’s not indicated on the web site, nor in the billing section of my portal after I signed up, nor if I print my bill. It’s only indicated in the email they sent me. When on a .ca web site, one expects to see CAD prices. If that’s not the case, it should be clear. Are there laws about this? In fact, they advertise the same prices on greengeeks.ca and greengeeks.com, without mentioning what currency it’s in. 🤔

@steveroy@mstdn.ca Deceptive practices. I like using Canadian hosts Canspace. Great company and support is quick and helpful.

I sent an email detailing my concerns to the GreenGeeks billing department, just to give them a chance in case it's an honest mistake. Nope: "Since we are a US-based company, we charge in $ USD for renewals." How American of you. Now I know what to do next. Thank you.

@steveroy@mstdn.ca According to Québec’s consumer protection laws, the default currency is Canadian dollars. (Under “Getting all the required information”) > When you make an online purchase, merchants are required to provide certain information before you complete the transaction, including: […] > the currency used to pay for the purchase if not in Canadian dollars (Euros, US dollars, etc.); https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/en/consumer/topic/purchase/online-purchase/advice
