  • Some key takeaways: Show up! At first ICE was doing big raids, but the community response was so intense they've been switching to small snatch-and-grabs that move as FAST as possible... But as it turns out, an alert community really CAN pull off rapid response-- in LESS THAN 5MIN. When everyone is primed and ready to take action the moment they hear the whistles and horns going off, ICE can't so much as sneeze without a crowd showing up. Immediately. It's not always enough to make the save-- but often, it is. When enough people show up, they RUN. Even if you're barely mobile, just hanging out on the porch or keeping an eye out the window or making phone calls helps. Support adds up, so show up. ACAB! We're being told to believe ICE is an aberration and "good" cops don't do this-- but local police and sherrifs and national guard are participating in the same shit. (In other episodes these podcasts have mentioned that ICE is full of inexperienced clowns, but Border Patrol is a mean old hand with this particular style of brutality.) ICE's abuses are new only in scale and boldness, not kind. What communities are learning now, MUST be carried through to life in general and the entire system. Even if ICE is disbanded, the abuses and oppression won't stop until we fight for real abolition.
