@Infinidoge@meow.social caveat: I usually don't care that much about leaving stuff behind advice: backup backup backup export everything exportable from https://meow.social/settings/export look at it to make sure it's readable should you need to fall back to doing things manually as backup to the backup, "print to pdf" https://meow.social/relationships for both following and followers, not only so you get an easily readable at a glance list but also each person's last known pfp, to make identifying easier know that every locked account that you follow from the old account will get a new follow request to manually approve - for best security practices, temporarily have a pinned post on your new account pointing to a pinned post on your old account stating you're moving to the new account and it actually is you have your new account at least minimally filled out so that it doesn't look like a bot or someone trying to steal your identity be prepared to lose some followers/followed - as people accept your follow request it might backfill, but give it time there might be 'stuck' follow requests that one person can't see, and the other person canceling the follow request and reinitiating might fix, but if not, might have to get one or more of the instance's admins involved since you did extensive backups and over-preparation, you should be able to easily track down any discrepancies, and being over prepared means you're less likely to actually need the backups and prep. just know the opposite is true, the less you prep, the more likely problems will occur. internet gremlins dictate it, i dont make the rules
