as i was writing this ☝️, the @mipsytipsy@hachyderm.io article about ethical usage of LLMs, which i have sort of mixed feelings about, was hanging out in the back of my mind (because that's where it lives most days). i made a cool infra project. i had fun doing it. i think it's gonna solve our problems in a sustainable way. i'm happy about that.to get there i used a tool that explicitly and unambiguously stole and continues to steal from my friends, my family, and me. we had to learn to live with guns, and now we have to learn to live with AI is just really unsatisfying to me in a way that i have trouble articulating. there are a lot of great arguments and callouts in the essay about rejecting puritanism and doing the work to make things better, and that's all great. but i don't own a gun, you know?
