Thanks to everyone who replied. If you've been thinking of starting a Fediverse meetup but you were worried noone would come, well, here's your answer. I'm yes, btw.

@evan@cosocial.ca This is where you tell me there is one, and I've never gone.

@evan@cosocial.ca It would depend on which specific other people go, and whether there would be solid clean-air measures & airborne illness prevention in place.

@evan@cosocial.ca Oui, si les gens parlent français.

@evan@cosocial.ca I almost chose “Yes, but [I’m too lazy]” – and I’ve been to adjacent meetups–, but realistically it’s more “No, but [I’ll go to meetups that are less 'meta', i. e. that organize via the Fediverse, but don’t have the Fediverse as their focal point.]”

@evan@cosocial.ca yes but... there are like three people from my town on fedi and I think I've already met them all in real life!

@evan@cosocial.ca While the fediverse is relatively small, it might be nice to meet people who have at least something in common with me, i.e. not wanting to use the big centralised services. But as we get bigger, I'd hope to have less and less in common with these people. So I'm not sure I'd want to meet them just because they're using a fediverse app.

@evan@cosocial.ca If I had the spoons available, yes. These days, that's a big if.
