Found out a borrower profile setting in our LMS doesn't do what I thought it did. I have a hypothesis about what it does do but the manual must have been written by programmers as it only explains how to configure the setting but not what it does or why one would want to set or un-set it. Now I have to revise my verbal scripts for registering new library patrons, although at least I don't think I had written it into our membership registration procedures yet. Worse, this leaves us with no apparent way for patrons to opt out of keeping a borrowing history.
