This week’s Minoan Tarot cards are giving the kind of advice my grandmother used to offer, and it’s especially appropriate for these Interesting Times. This deck is my creation, made the old-fashioned way (ink on paper) and available at bookstores everywhere.
Seven of Horns: This is the card of practicality and prudence. It tells you to look closely and honestly at where you are in material terms – career, savings, home, physical comforts – and make prudent decisions regarding moving forward. This card tells you to be careful and conservative, even if that’s not your first impulse, and you’ll be successful in the long term. Though it may be difficult or uncomfortable (or unfashionable) to forgo material pleasures for the time being, this is the wise choice and will pay back in dividends in the future.
Balance: This card stands for moderation, compromise, and the middle ground. It implies a mature viewpoint that encompasses differences and avoids extremes, including the ideas of sensibility, self-restraint, and good health. Balance, both literal and figurative, requires focus, concentration, and practice as well as a certain amount of maturity. It can include the give-and-take of relationships as well as a healthy equilibrium between work and play, exercise and rest, and other areas of life. This card is telling you that balance is very important – both achieving it and maintaining it. Make an extra effort to maintain balance in all areas of your life, especially if circumstances tend to push you out of equilibrium, and you’ll move forward with greater ease.
For those who are new to these card draws, each week I pull one card from the top of the deck and a second card from the bottom. The top-of-the-deck card (the first one, on the left) gives us some helpful hints about how to navigate our week. The bottom-of-the-deck card (the second one, on the right) is the “secret treasure” that can help us find joy in these Interesting Times.
