I borrowed the Logan/O'Hara book from my local Library several times back in the day. I copied the ROM loading routine and (very slightly) customised to change the border loading and flash colour on the screen over some text that says "LOADING"
I used it in a loader for a Poke program that Your Sinclair put on their cover tape.
Sadly they stripped out my loader and put a fast loader on the covertape version to save tape.

@raymierussell Heheh, very cool. That’s a shame they didn’t use it! I haven’t done anything fancy with loaders, but the book was very helpful in understanding the entry points when I was exploring headerless loading. I keep a copy handy on my shelf now (sometimes it’s easier to flick through a real book than a PDF!) so I can grab it when I come across some code that references ROM routines.
