something to remember about the Ed Sheeran thing is this: it is not surprising that Ed is an inveterate coward more interested in money and pacification than justice. it's super easy for us to think "well, if my net worth was almost half a billion dollars, that's FUCK YOU money and i wouldn't let myself be bullied by anyone", because most of us don't have, and will never have, fuck you money.
money rots your brain. it is a cognitohazard on the level of a cursed ring or staring directly into some eldritch abomination's fuckhole. it will never be surprising to me that someone who is mentally carcassed enough to allow themselves to accrue 400 million dollars is unable to say "hmm, perhaps 400 million is more than enough and i can do something good instead".
it is more surprising to me that someone Macklemore, who is also certainly sitting on an adequate pile of fuck you money of his own (albeit less than 7% of Sheeran's worth) has the courage to say "i am in a position where i can unambiguously choose to do good and not risk personal disaster".
it would be healthier for society, but also for the mega rich, if their asses got taxed more. maybe if Ed Sheeran got a 99.9% tax on every dollar above $10 million, he wouldn't have spent his adult life becoming a brainrotted loser with the moral fortitude of wet newspaper.
