A lot of the post TNG-series material became the Picard/Data show, due to Stewart's demands and Data's popularity. I think they should have embraced that slash in the narrative, and let these two find lifelong companionship together.

In case it’s not coming across, this isn’t a joke or a bad faith critique, but a genuine (if sentimental) wish on my part. Picard had a lot to learn about the different ways there are to be human, and I think there’s an interesting story to be told in how he and Data would negotiate that path together, in the context of their affection for each other.
