One of the hardest parts about having my own work-issued laptop now is that I can't text from it. I used to bring my personal Mac with me to work to get stuff done, and I could use iMessage and get a hold of people much faster. Now I have to consciously take my phone out and respond to things when they come in. That's taken me a while to get used to, and I really miss my Mac during the day. I was spoiled with how productive I ended up being. But also, from a legality standpoint, I understand why using my personal machine in an educational environment, full of confidential information, was nothing but ill-advised and strongly discouraged. But I didn't have a choice since nobody would give me one until this year.
