@TarkabarkaHolgy@ohai.social My kids are mercifully too old for Paw Patrol now, but that wasn't always the case, and I was subjected to so much Paw Patrol that I developed a crush on Mayor Goodway.
I have a few headcanons, please forgive me for dumping them here.
First, where is Adventure Bay? The climate looks Californian, but they can drive to both a cold region with penguins, and a jungle with indigenous stone ruins. There's only 5 regions in the world with a hot summer climate like California. But California and the Mediterranean don't have penguins, and southern Africa and Australia don't have central American ruins. I believe Adventure Bay is in Chile.
Question two, where are Ryder's parents? I've never seen them, or guardians of any kind. I believe Ryder is an emancipated minor. I also believe he is a sociopath, that the people of Adventure Bay are like pets to him, which is why the entire emergency response team are his "techbro solution" team of dogs with cool cars.

@TarkabarkaHolgy@ohai.social So why don't the people of Adventure Bay object? I think Ryder owns Adventure Bay. Like, the whole region. I think Mayor Goodway was his nanny, who used to tell him about the town in Chile her grandfather used to be mayor of (It might not have been in the movie, but former mayor "Grandpa Grover" was established in the show). I believe the town was abandoned, so Ryder bought it and the surrounding region, and installed Goodway as "mayor," which is why the only political work she does is ribbon cutting, speeches, and other community events.
Why buy that land, and where did the money come from? I assume Ryder's money comes from selling technology to the US military. And I believe he left the USA to avoid scrutiny for his "pet project" of developing a team of sentient dogs to do emergency work.
