But generally speaking these grants don't do much to encourage uptake of such technologies - they just pay for the bureaucracy they themselves produce and line the pockets of the installers.

@edavies@functional.cafe I generally agree, however they are making some progress. Still very early days though. We are halfway through a 10-year plus process of converting to a heat pump ourselves, with no help from the government. We have a2a for over half of the house. Phase 2 will be more a2a, phase 3 will be hot water whenever the government allows us to remove gas (not clear that we can under current regs).
