Rode up to Rocky River Reservation today to visit Berea Falls. This is one of the more interesting waterfalls in Northeast Ohio from a photographic standpoint due to the awesome old railroad bridges. I find it strangely comforting that you can find places of surpassing natural beauty tucked away right in the heart of the city sometimes, but it makes sense that European settlers would look specifically for rocky canyons with flowing water to build a mill, and eventually a town.
Cleveland has one of the best Metropark systems of any major metropolitan area. I'll die on that hill. Most of us are just too busy to fully enjoy them.
I took the time to bracket my shots today specifically in order to create HDR composite images, due to the strong signify and shadows. Exposures were mostly around 2-3 seconds with an nd32 filter and the lens fully stopped down. I usually prefer a more natural look, but I think with the rocky subject matter this technique brings out the texture nicely.
